This client went from being laid off to landing 39 interviews, including Visa, Adobe, CrowdStrike, Uber, Databricks, MongoDB, DocuSign and Dynatrace.

He'd been a Senior Manager in Data Quality and Governance, built global teams, and had a solid career behind him.

After the layoff, he decided to take some time for himself. He pursued an AI governance certification, updated his resume, and started thinking about where he wanted to go next.

He wasn't particularly interested in rushing into the first available job. He wanted a senior leadership position at an established company, preferably in the Bay Area, where he could continue growing in data and AI governance.

Getting back into the market after a layoff

But getting back into the market was proving difficult.

He'd seen positions attracting 400 applicants within minutes, and his biggest concern was making sure his resume actually reached someone who could make a hiring decision.

He also knew how exhausting the application process could become.

“It drains you, it takes too much time.”

He figured he could spend four to six hours every day applying for jobs, but that would leave considerably less time to prepare for interviews.

So, we took all of that off his plate.

Better with every interview

Early on, he was progressing past roughly half his recruiter screens. As the interviews kept coming, he got better at explaining his experience, anticipating questions and learning from the rounds that didn't go his way.

Eventually, he told us he was clearing practically every recruiter screen.

“The number of interviews which you gave me, it polished me. Every iteration.”

Two offers and an AI governance role

He ultimately had two offers to choose from and accepted an Associate Director of AI Governance role with a $230K base salary.

Looking back, he told us that without our help, he might have managed two or three interviews a month, but it would have taken much longer to improve his interview performance.

Every interview we landed gave him another opportunity to sharpen his answers, and having a consistent pipeline meant he could keep improving without spending his days chasing applications.

If you're a senior technology leader facing a similar situation, my team can help you land your next role.
