- Role landed
- Senior Director of Engineering
David had already landed a Director-level role with our help and accepted it. That could reasonably have been the end of the engagement.
Within the same week he landed another interview, for a Senior Director role at a much larger company. The recruiter liked his background enough to compress the process dramatically.
The whole story is what happened after the offer was signed
“The recruiter loved their background so much that they put him through multiple rounds of interviews within the same day, with the CTO and the CPO. By the next day they had a Senior Director offer with a much larger company and much better compensation.”
Multiple final-round interviews in one day, and an offer the following day. That only happens if the pipeline is still warm at the moment the first offer lands, which is an argument for not switching a search off the instant something acceptable arrives.
Staying in the market is the transferable lesson
The reason this outcome existed at all is that outreach and pipeline were still running when the first offer was accepted. Had the search been wound down at signature, the second conversation would never have started.
He also describes an executive recruiter reaching out during the process off the back of his positioning rather than an application, which is the same mechanism other clients here describe.
The search in numbers
- A Director-level offer accepted, then a Senior Director offer within the same week
- Multiple final rounds with the CTO and CPO inside a single day
- A larger company and materially better compensation
- Level: Director. Function: Engineering
